Hot Coffee Show

SoPo has embarked on production of a hilarious weekly podcast called Hot Coffee, an unscripted audio show based on improv theatre. The players make up the scenes and songs as they go, and every drop of creative inspiration on the show manifests itself on the fly. Hot Coffee features Chris Black, Geordie Broadwater, Nate Dern, Pippi Kessler, Matthew O’Malley, and AJ Wolosenko. The show is produced by Matthew O’Malley and Robbie Mitchell of SoPo Productions.

Hot Coffee Show’s first full episode drew rave reviews immediately, prompting the release of two ringtones and a behind-the-scenes video to prove the show was unscripted.

The show will continue to evolve based on our experience and listener feedback.

I’ll Be Lovin’ U Long Time (SoPo Remix) by Mariah Carey

For Indaba Music’s remix contest of Mariah Carey’s latest single, “I’ll Be Lovin’ U Long Time”, SoPo Productions turned back the clock to create a modern R&B dance-pop song rooted in MC’s mid-90s sweet spot.

Out: DJ Toomp’s familiar ride cymbal, the cutting brass, and high Hollywood strings. Actually, everything is out.

In: Rhodes piano, celeste, harp, synth pads, a sweeping ES1, double neck guitar, beatbox by Micah Shapiro, vocals by Matt O’Malley and Micah Shapiro, and finger snaps. And some new brass and strings of our own.

Coconut Juice (SoPo Remix) by Tyga

For a remix contest hosted by Jamglue, we replaced the dark tone of Tyga’s first single, “Coconut Juice”, with something more upbeat and ready for poolside. The remix contains, among other things: a drumline kit, numerous synths and brass, the Moog Little Phatty, orchestral strings, and electric guitar, including a screaming guitar solo by our friend Sweet Pea (3:00 mark).
